If you want a wonderful destination for cyclists, then Horningsham is the place for you. It offers rural lanes, national cycle routes and off-road cycling, all set within the Cranborne Chase National Landscape.
The National Cycle Network establishes cyclist-friendly routes with no or low volumes of traffic. Two of them pass through Horningsham and they are especially attractive. First, there is national cycle route 25, which comes from the south from Maiden Bradley, down the hill past the Bath Arms and through to Longleat House. There it joins national cycle route 24, which runs from Frome in the west and then on to Warminster and the Wylye Valley. But there are also numerous bridleways in the parish that cyclists can use to explore the countryside. Rights of way are well signposted, and in any case can be seen on Ordnance Survey maps (and having the OS app on your mobile is particularly useful). So there is a huge choice of quiet routes available; and for cyclists needing a rest from their exertions, what could be better than refreshments at the Bath Arms?
